A New Blank Page

Holidays are celebrated right before the year ends. It is like putting a signature on an artwork. But we are not just celebrating holidays out of gratitude for finishing the year. Holidays also mark new beginnings. Like a blank paper, a chance to start over and make a difference. So, how can I make a difference this holiday season? Well, since a lot has happened this 2020, I would like to start by being thankful that I am still alive. I want to tell all my loved ones that we are still living. I want to tell them to be grateful and take each breath like it’s their last. Because just like 2020, it is a new page, but it might also be the last.

A blank page is scary. One wrong move and it already has a dirty mark. And to be honest, that is what’s most likely to happen. It is common to have a rough start, but that shouldn’t stop us from creating the most beautiful artwork of our entire life. Looking back at the beginning of 2020, I was hesitant to try new things. I was scared of messing up the new year that has been given to me. And right when I was ready, things started to mess up. I felt like I lost my chance because I waited too long. And that is one of the most important lessons that I learned this year. A blank page might be scary, but I will immediately start drawing and not take that chance for granted again. It might be messy in the beginning, but it will turn out to be beautiful eventually.

Holidays are special. It can act as a signature after a finished artwork, but a new blank page at the same time. A lot of unexpected crazy things happened this year, and that made me realize something. I always have big plans at the start of the year. And that always ends up in me missing the chance because of waiting for the right opportunity. Next year, I will start small. I will start by being grateful for the new blank page that has is given to me. It is not a huge change, but a difference that I can make this holiday season.
